Quercus Virginiana

Live Oak

An old and faithful majestic tree of the south. This iconic beauty is drought tolerant and a true staple in Texan backyards. Relatively slow growing, this tree is a real investment for the future; a tree that your children and their children will get to fully experience its shade and grace. Plant Live Oak in only large enough spaces that will properly accommodate this giant. We often install live oaks in front- and backyards in Austin landscapes. Live Oak has some maintenance related to it, mainly in the form of Oak Wilt susceptibility and leaf drop during the spring. Prune only at appropriate times: early spring and late winter.
